Wildlife officials of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission have been posed a bit of a head scratcher after a beachcomber handed in a giant eye they found on Pompano Beach, Florida. The eye was found on 10 October when Gino Covacci noticed the deep-blue orb sitting on the high tide line. "It was very, very fresh," Covacci told local newspaper Sun Sentinel. "It was still bleeding when I put it in the plastic bag." The eye is currently on ice until it can be sent to Fish and Wildlife Research Institute in St. Petersburg, Florida. Marine biologists have not yet been able to identify what creature the eye has come from, with various possibilities offered including swordfish, tuna, a deep-water fish, or possibly a variety of giant squid. Carli Segelson, a spokeswoman for the Florida commission, told NBC news that genetic testing will most probably reveal the owner of the mystery eye. We've got our fingers crossed that the genetic test comes back inconclusive, so our minds can run wild with the possibilities of an uknown monster lurking in the deep. Një burrë, teksa po bënte shëtitje në breg të detit, citon alb-observer.coom, gjeti një sy të madh, ngjyrë blu që kishte dalë në breg të detit. Vetë ai deklaroi se “Në fillim e… shkelmoja, përgjatë bregut të detit, derisa e pash më me vëmendje dhe kuptova se çfarë po shkelmoja. Ishte shumë i freskët, madje kishte hemorragji në momentin që e futa në një qese, ndoshta nga shkelmimet e mia…!”, shtoi ai. Në vijim e mori syrin në shtëpinë dhe e vendosi në frigorifer. Menjëherë njoftoi autoritete e zonës, të cilët shkuan menjëherë në (vendngjarje) shtëpinë e tij. Por, pas një ekzaminimi që ju bë syrit, as edhe specialistët e fushës nuk mund ta përcaktonin se kujt specie detare i përket ky sy gjigand. Ndërkohë, zbulimi –syri- i është nënshtruar një sërë analizash laboratorike, me qëllim që të zbulohet e vërteta dhe ky sy i mistershëm të pagëzohet me atë që i takon. Pasi, ende specia detarë (?) që i përket ky sy mbetet enigmë.
